The rocks on the bank of a stream in Bacungan, Puerto Princesa were still moist with morning dew when we arrived on site for the first day of avifauna research. The research that will measure the amount of mercury in bird feathers in four "barangays" (*micro administrative units of government in the Philippines) is part of the third phase of the collaborative mega study on environmental mobility of mercury from an abandoned mine in Palawan.
